How to Use National Core Indicators to Develop Contracting Strategies

When: January 31 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Please join the HCBS Business Acumen Center on January 24th at 12:30PM Eastern for a one hour webinar about how to use national data to develop business proposals for contracting with health plans.

The National Core Indicators (NCI) and National Core Indicators – Aging and Disabilities (NCI-AD) are voluntary programs that provide states data to measure and track the performance of their services and supports. Data come from in-person surveys focused on either intellectual and developmental disabilities (NCI) or aging and physical disabilities (NCI-AD) populations. Core indicators are standard measures used across states to assess the outcomes of services provided to individuals and families. Indicators address key areas of concern including employment, rights, service planning, community inclusion, choice, health, care coordination, safety and relationships.Community Based Organizations (CBO) serving people with disabilities can utilize this information to understand the performance of health plans in their communities and identify areas where CBOs can help improve that performance.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand what the National Core Indicators and National Core Indicators – Aging and Disabilities are.
  • Understand how to use data from the National Core Indicators and National Core Indicators – Aging and Disabilities to develop contracting strategies.
  • Understand how to present your proposal to the health plans in your communities.
