For critically and chronically ill people, food is medicine. With adequate amounts of nutritious food, people who are sick have a better response to medication, maintain and gain strength, and have improved chances of recovery. This report focuses on the provision of nutritional counseling and the delivery of medically-tailored, home-delivered meals to those with debilitating chronic or acute illnesses. This paper uses the term Medically-Tailored Food and Nutrition Providers (MTFNP) to refer to organizations that provide home-delivered meals that are nutritionally appropriate for specific medical needs.
