State of the States in Aging and Disability

In 2014, the National Association of State Units on Aging and Disability surveyed state aging and disability agencies to identify the significant policy, fiscal, and operational issues occurring within each state. The survey collected detailed information about the structure of agencies, the supports provided, and the populations served by aging and disability agencies.

This reports offers a snapshot of the states in a period of transition and change. Factors that continue to drive change include continued change include the economic environment, the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, uncertainty in the federal budget, changes in state-level leadership and the shifting political environment.
