Nearly half of all individuals dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid need LTSS for help with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing and eating. Direct care workers provide most of these services and supports – often in their clients’ homes – so it is critical that the clients feel comfortable with that care provider and that care providers know how to identify and address clients’ cultural needs and preferences. This webinar will discuss strategies effectively identifying and meeting clients’ LTSS needs, in both institutional and community-based settings, while remaining culturally competent.
During this webinar, attendees will learn to:
- Recognize the diverse needs and preferences of dually eligible individuals for culturally sensitive direct care services;
- Identify strategies that can be used to meet the cultural and linguistic needs of dually eligible individuals; and
- Identify the key elements of cultural competence training.
