Healthy Aging: Strategies for Addressing Social Isolation During a Pandemic

ProMedica and AARP Foundation are committed to ensuring the health and well-being of our nation’s older adults and to developing new models for healthy aging. Part of that commitment includes recognizing social isolation as a social determinant of health and treating it as such.

The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected older adults and laid bare the inequities in our health care and social service sectors. Many who are now homebound or in senior living facilities, without physical access to loved ones, are experiencing loneliness, feeling disconnected from family and friends, and struggling to meet their basic needs.

It’s imperative that we identify strategies to confront these challenges. Please join us for a virtual summit, Healthy Aging: Strategies for Addressing Social Isolation During a Pandemic, during which we will share proven ideas you and your organizations can use to tackle the social isolation problem.

The event will feature a keynote by Victor Strecher, PhD, MPH, founder and Chief Purpose Officer at Kumanu, who will share an inspiring message about the importance of purpose, especially for older adults. Panel discussions will feature experts from ProMedica, AARP Foundation and Leading Age, all sharing their experience with technological and community-based solutions. The interactive format will also enable you to share your own experience, ask questions and raise concerns that we can address collectively.

The summit access link will be sent via email to registered participants.
